A Mindful Approach To Making Peace with Food

Yoga & Meditation

In addition to Health Coaching and Counseling I offer individual Yoga Therapy sessions. Yoga Therapy can be integrated into traditional Counseling or Health Coaching easily to help address stress, anxiety, depression and overall wellbeing more thoroughly and deeply.

If you have ever practiced yoga before, you know that it is more than an exercise or simply stretching. Yoga is beneficial for our health in ways that modern science is just beginning to understand. Yoga has been used with therapeutic intention for thousands of years, however, Yoga Therapy is just now emerging as a specific discipline in itself.

When working with me you can expect to have a consultation that addresses both physical and/or emotional/mental/spritual needs, and a specific yoga practice will be designed together and practiced together to help alleviate both physcial and emotional symtoms. Breathing exercises, yoga postures, deep relaxation, concentration exercises and mindfulness will be incorporated into each specific yoga therapy plan.

I often hear "I cannot meditate, my mind is always too active" or that meditation is too hard. The true purpose of meditation is to begin to create awareness, calm, and peace. When practiced meditation becomes more comfortable, and the ultimate goal is not necessarily to completely quiet the mind, or empty the mind of all thoughts, unless of course that is what happens to occur for you. The purpose is to open to the possibilities that meditation has to offer such as reduced stress, improved sleep, more self-awareness, balanced emotions, a healthier immune system- just to name a few!

Meditation has gotten a lot of press recently and studies are showing the benefits over and over again. Many people are drawn to the idea of meditation but are overwhelmed or confused by the practice or how to begin.

I offer meditation training and practice that is specific to your needs and is taught and guided at a pace that is comfortable for you to help you create and develop the most beneficial meditation practice. If you are interested in learning how to meditate and would like to create a specific practice just for you, contact me today to help you get started on your meditative journey!

I am a Lead Trainer in the Therapeutically Focused 200-hour and 300-hour Teacher Training Programs at Glenmore Yoga and Wellness Center.
